38th AFH Congress

Jun 18, 2025

The Association Française d’Histotechnologie (AFH) announces the 38th edition of its annual congress, under the captivating theme “L’histologie se met au parfum” (i.e. Histology Gets a Nose for Innovation). The event promises a dynamic and interdisciplinary exploration of histology’s evolving role in science, medicine, and technology.

The event includes a poster session, technical workshops, roundtables (RITA/BPL), and an awards ceremony recognizing the best poster and photography.

Scientific poster “Characterization of the caerulein-induced acute pancreatitis mouse model”

Do not miss our poster presentation by Agnès Blossier, Senior Research Associate Histology. It will detail how we characterized the acute pancreatic model in mice histologically.

Abstract: Acute pancreatitis is a sudden inflammation of the pancreas that can be life-threatening in 15-20% of cases. Severe and recurrent episodes of this condition can progress to chronic pancreatitis, leading to permanent inflammation of the pancreas and an increased risk of pancreatic cancer. Despite extensive research, there is currently no specific therapy capable of altering the course of the disease.
To study this condition, we established a cerulein-induced mouse model, which effectively mimics clinical pancreatitis. Our aim was to characterize this model histologically. Cerulein-induced pancreatic injury leads to infiltration of inflammatory immune cells, edema and extensive destruction of the pancreatic parenchyma. This model is highly reproducible, and the histopathological findings closely resemble those observed in acute human pancreatitis.
